I have blogged previously (here, here and here) about the USPTO's continuing lies with respect to its "docx filing" program, but Carl Oppedahl has done a much better job of tracking this on his Ant-Like Persistence blog. Carl will be offering two webinars about the pitfalls of docx filing, one on May 10 for people who use MS Word and one on May 12 for people who use other word processing programs. You can learn more about the webinars and sign up here; on that page are also recordings of two earlier versions of these webinars.
Presently the docx program has been pushed off, again, until June 30, and I won't be surprised if it gets pushed off yet again, but at some point I expect the PTO to say, "No, this time we mean it", at which point I expect the matter to end up in court.
