Went to login to file something at the Israel PTO, and got the notice at the bottom of the login window below:
If you don't read Hebrew, it says, "There may be disruptions in the web sites starting at 18:00 today".
Hey, who files stuff after 6 PM? The Israel PTO doesn't work then, why should patent applicants?
And which "web sites"? The problem actually seems to have already struck in the patents database, which is presently inaccessible.
Heaven forfend that they do maintenance work on their systems AFTER midnight. (To be fair, there have been occasions in the past when they have pushed off work to that time slot. So why make the mistake now?) In the present case pushing off work until after midnight would be even better, because it would be early Friday morning, which isn't a workday and Israel and therefore any deadlines are pushed off until Sunday.
But lately the USPTO has also been doing systems maintenance beginning at 10 PM eastern time on weeknights, viz. two hours before the business day ends for those who file electronically. Evidently someone in Israel doesn't want to be left out of the party.
