The Israel PTO announced this morning by email that its computer systems will be offline beginning Thursday August 5 and continuing through 7 AM the following morning. This will include filing systems for patents, trademarks and designs.
The notice doesn't appear on the landing page of the ILPTO's web site. Nor does it appear in the "news" section. In fact, the notice doesn't seem to appear anywhere on the ILPTO site, even if one searches for it.
It's also strange that the system will be taken offline while it's still a workday. Since the ILPTO is officially closed on Fridays, why not start the maintenance a minute after midnight on Friday, August 6, and finish by noon the same day, instead of foreshortening applicants' and owners' workday on Thursday by 7 hours (or forcing them to file by fax, which nobody including (or especially) the ILPTO likes, or forcing them hire a driver to hand deliver the documents to the ILPTO, another thing which nobody including the ILPTO likes)?
