The Israel PTO announced today that effective July 1, 2020, applicants for registered designs in Israel will be able to make use of DAS. (The ILPTO notified WIPO of this last month.) Design applicants whose first filing is in Israel may ask that their application be made available via DAS, so that, when they file outside of Israel claiming priority from the Israel application, they won't need to provide a certified copy in each jurisdiction, but will merely need to tell the office in that jurisdiction to obtain the copy via DAS. And design applicants filing in Israel whose priority application(s) are available via DAS will merely have to provide the Israel PTO with the code to download a copy of the priority document(s) from DAS. Israel will be the twelfth country to participate in DAS for designs. Israel began participating in DAS accession for patents in 2019.
