In January this year, when snow forced the closure of the ILPTO, the office put out a notice that deadlines that came due on that day would still have to be met. We complained about that decision here.
Kudos to the ILPTO for learning from its mistakes. Over the last few days, Jerusalem has seen a record snowfall. (In Rehovot, which is only about 200 feet above sea level as opposed to Jerusalem’s 2500 foot elevation, we received enough hail to stay on the ground as slush for a few hours, something I’ve never seen before in 20+ years here.) On Thursday and again this morning, the ILPTO announced through its email list that employees were instructed to stay home, and consequently deadlines for filing documents would be extended to the next day on which the ILPTO is open.
One criticism: why doesn’t this announcement appear on the ILPTO’s web site? The most recent announcement is from November 27 (see screen shot below).
